Dexter Tolson & Friends, the Atlanta based band thrives playing a fusion of funk, compiles an arrangement of felicitous jazz, and gets down with Rhythm & Blues that wake maestros of yesterday from eternal slumber to shindig with the living. Their music resonates with the likes of Grover Washington Jr, Gerald Albright, and Kirk Whalum. Dexter Tolson & Friends performs all over the Atlanta area and Southeast Region. You may have seen them perform at The Calabar & Grill in Stone Mountain, Footprints Café in Lawrenceville for Rene Miller Majic 107.5 and several other venues in the metropolitan Atlanta area. 

Jody Mayfield

Jazz Pianist

A highly regarded jazz pianist, Jody is an Atlanta native. Jody received his BA in music performance from Morris Brown College and a master’s degree in music technology from Southern Utah University.

Jody has had the privilege of performing with legendry giants such as Dizzy Gillespie, James Lloyd and Grover Washington Jr to name a few.

​Jody has several albums to his credit and has made significant contributions to the film and television industry.​

​Domingo Hipona

Guitarist

An old school guitarist with over 55 years of playing experience from Northern California, Domingo started playing guitar in 1965 and started playing night clubs in 1968.

Domingo is well versed in smooth jazz, funk, R&B, blues, with early influences like Wes Montgomery, Howard Roberts and later by Eric Gale, Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour. Domingo has played all around the world while playing touring and playing for soldiers stationed overseas.

Saxophonist

Dexter Tolson is a self-taught saxophonist who plays Tenor, Alto and Soprano saxophones. Dexter’s musical journey started as a youngster while growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, his mother enrolled him in piano lessons.

Although Dexter did not stick with the piano, music never left his soul. After trying his hand at various instruments, at the age of 29 he settled on the saxophone after listening to lots of Grover Washington Jr and David Sanborn.

After relocating to the Atlanta area and jumping into the music scene, he decided that he wanted to form his own band. In 2004 Dexter Tolson and good friend and keyboardist Eldwin Boyd formed the Goodfellas Jazz Band which is now called Dexter Tolson and Friends.

​Dexter is a national recording artist with a total of 6 albums to his credit and is currently writing the music for his 7 th project. 

Dean Webster

Bass Expressionist

Bassist Dean Webster is a native of Dayton Ohio. His musical journey is a result of following behind his older brothers that who played guitar.

After relocating to the Atlanta area, Dean has played in numerous bands playing everything from Jazz, R&B, Gospel and Funk bands. Most notable playing for blues Icon William Bell for several years.

​Dean is an accomplished song writer and has written several compositions for several artist including Dexter Tolson.​

Bobby  "Skeet"  Henderson

The Beat Master

Drummer Bobby Henderson was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. Bobby’s musical influences stemmed from his fathers’ (Bobby Henderson Sr) jazz record collection at a very young age. He knew he had a calling for music, so he joined the
school concert band in the 4th grade as a trumpeter.

​After graduating from North Fulton High School (1983), he attended Fort Valley State College, studying music. Bobby has played in numerous bands around the Atlanta, he’s been playing with Dexter Tolson since 2005.
